A Little History & Style
JRB Mediations was established in 2015 by Judy Balombin, a Qualified Mediator and Certified Workplace Investigator with over 10 years of mediation experience.
Led by her passion for mediation and helping people resolve their disputes, Judy’s down to earth, empathetic, and direct communication style both establishes trust and assures her clients she will get the job done.
Judy’s specialized communication and conflict resolution skills allow her to:
explore what lies beneath the surface of the dispute
identify the real issues
ensure that all parties are heard and understood
help all parties get unstuck and move forward to resolution
Judy is highly skilled in navigating from simple to complex conflicts, including high conflict and multi-party disputes.

Mediation & Industry Experience
Judy’s Story
Judy first provided mediation for workplace and civil disputes through JRB Mediations in 2015 and soon after included family and separation & divorce mediation to her service offerings.
Not long after establishing JRB Mediations, the Alberta Provincial Courts sought her as a mediator for their Civil Mediation Program, where she resolved a variety of disputes ranging from real estate, contracts, construction, partnerships, and other issues.
Following her successful tenure with the Provincial Courts, Judy joined the Alberta Energy Regulator as full-time mediator specializing in resolving intricate and complex oil and gas disputes between companies and between landowners and companies.
Aside from mediation, Judy’s broad experience has included many successful collaborations and negotiations with clients from various industries and organizational levels. Judy has:
overseen government and agricultural investments
led economic development projects and provincial policy initiatives
directed communication campaigns
her diversified experience also includes Realtor, post secondary Instructor, property manager, farming, and more.
Judy’s diverse background gives her the advantage of understanding a range of industries and perspectives, and creating custom resolution strategies for workplace conflicts, family disputes, and civil disagreements.
Judy has also provided volunteer mediation services within the community.
Judy is a full member with the Family Mediation Society of Alberta and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Alberta and of Canada.
Education & Professional Training
Judy is a highly trained professional who has earned Degrees in both Commerce and Arts (Psychology/ Sociology) from the University of Alberta and a degree in Communications from Simon Fraser University.
Ever dedicated to her craft, Judy continues to invest in alternative dispute resolution training through the Legal Education Society of Alberta, the Justice Institute of British Columbia, Erickson Coaching International, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of both Alberta and Canada.
